Generative AI is the front door. Cognition is the house.
The generative wave gave us systems that produce remarkable artifacts — images, voices, prose. What it has not yet given us is systems that understand what they are producing, who they are producing it for, or what is true about the world they are producing it in.
Midvale works on both halves. Our product work explores what generative models can do today, when paired with care and craft. Our research explores what comes next: agents that maintain calibrated, revisable beliefs about latent causes rather than treating detections as truth.
